Busy Week Ahead for Jasperites
There is no shortage of things to do in and around Monticello this week with the Chamber of Commerce hosting the Jasper Jubilee, encouraging people to shop and eat at the stores and restaurants here in Monticello and the participants offering special deals.
On Saturday, the Jasper County Historical Foundation will hold its annual meeting with two bands playing, and it’s just a short distance from the Square where the first day of the Market Festival with special Jasper Jubilee activities will be taking place.
In addition, high school sports teams are competing at high levels, it’s the annual Kids’ Fishing Rodeo at Miller Creek Lake in Jones County, and there are numerous other activities as seen by the calendar.
Some highlights include live music on the Square for picnickers to enjoy Friday evening with some stores staying open late. The Historical Foundation will have live music by It Matters on the lawn at 319 College Street at noon, and then after the meeting, August Rain will play in the auditorium.
A special section inside today’s paper features advertisements from some of the Jubilee participants. Please patronize these businesses. For more information on the Jubilee, contact the COC, 706-468-8994.
