Shiloh Kinghts Win Season Opener

The Shiloh Varsity Knights opened their 2015 season defeating the Westside Macon Warriors 13-7 on Tuesday in seven innings.

The Knights jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. After Compton singled, Knights kept the pressure on Westside Warriors pitching, as Caleb Sheridan drove in Parker Wyatt for one of his 3 runs batted in (RBIs) going 3-5 on the day.

It didn’t take long for the Warriors to respond as they scored three runs in the first. Westside scored on a wild pitch, a hit by pitch, and a groundout.

Caleb Compton was the starter on the mound pitching 3 innings allowing 4 runs, 2 hits, 3 strikeouts, and 4 runs. The game was tied going into the sixth but quickly went back-and-forth with nine lead changes. A six run rally started with an RBI single by Wyatt, a steal of home by Micah Compton, an RBI single by David Sorrells and a RBI single by Justin Nelson helped give the Knight a commanding lead.

Wyatt pitched the last 4 innings posting 3 runs, 5 hits, 5 strikeouts, and 1 walk. C. Compton was strong at the plate going 3-3 with two doubles, 2 walks along with Sorrells and Sheridan adding 2 and 3 RBIs of their own.
