Cougar Track Begins March 18
Piedmont Academy’s track athletes are preparing for a new season under the direction of a new coach.
The new track season begins Wednesday, March 18, with a 3:30 p.m. meet at Gatewood in Eatonton. The Cougars and Lady Cougars are coached by Walt Nelson this spring.
Team members for the Piedmont girls include seniors Remington Marsh and JaDe Padgett; juniors Amelia Dodson, Anna Phillips and Matti Smith; freshmen Alexis Dodson, Sara Hammonds, Railey Holloway, Anna Knox, Taylor Patterson and Caitlyn Young and eighth graders Cassidy Cook, Sydney Davis, Gracie Hunt and Lucy Tuggle.
The varsity boys team will feature seniors Jeremiah Dave, Gaven Edge, Hunter Knox and Chase Young; juniors Chris Coogler, Ben Davis, Cameron Hammock and Zach Wilson; sophomores Mack Brady, Brice Dodson, Michael Edwards and Chris McClain and freshmen Corbin Burrell and Tanner Coppock.
The Piedmont teams will return to Gatewood on March 25 and then compete at Briarwood on April 1.
Assisting with the track programs this spring will be Judy Nelson and team parents Chris Hunt and Karla Tuggle along with managers Bailyn Whitaker, Gracie Black and Emily Mills.
Piedmont competes in the same track region as Brentwood, Briarwood, Monsignor Donovan and Windsor Academy.
