B-Team Cougars Fall in Opener

Piedmont Academy’s B-Team baseball squad fell 10-0 to Loganville Christian Academy last Saturday.

The Cougars fell in an early hole giving up several unearned runs in the first inning.

“It was just great to get out on the field,” coach Daniel Funt said. “The weather has been terrible. We have several players who had just finished playing basketball so I appreciated them coming out just to get some playing time and work in. The B-Team is a very important part of our program.”

Saturday’s game could have been 4-0 or 5-0 had Piedmont not made so many mistakes, Funt said.

Michael Edwards was 2-of-3 at the plate. Alan Powell and Brett Bush both saw pitching work.

“This season will be a great opportunity to develop our young players and to allow others to prove themselves,” Funt said. “We will play some very good opponents so it will be a great chance for players to get a significant amount of playing time, to mature and development while improving and learning the game.”

The B-Team Cougars are scheduled to host John Milledge March 12 at 6 p.m. before traveling to Trinity Christian-Sharpsburg the following day for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
