Reverend L. C. Warren, Jr.

Reverend L. C. Warren, Jr. of Oxford, formerly Atlanta, passed away at age 98, February 2, 2015.

He was born January 30, 1918 to Lovic Cyril Warren and Sadie Neal Warren in Atlanta. He was predeceased in 2003 by his wife of 67 years, the former Alfreda Bell Warren, daughter of Dr. James Addison Bell and Blanche Ragsdale Bell of Lithonia.

Mr. Warren was President of the L. C. Warren, Jr. Refrigeration Company in Atlanta from 1940 until the firm was sold in 1968. Later he worked for his eldest son, George Warren, in the real estate and insurance business.

Ordained to the Baptist ministry in 1942, he was bi-vocational Associate Pastor at White Oak Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta for many years; later at Chapel Heights Baptist Church in Decatur, and Shiloh Baptist Church in Newborn. He also had served as chairman of both the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board, and the Christian City Board in Peachtree City.

Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Warren Hopkins of New Smyrna Beach, FL; son, George T. Warren, II and wife Gale, of Madison; son, L. C. Warren, III and wife Carol, of Gordon; daughter, Cherry Wardwell and husband Duane, of Monticello, and daughter, Sadie Campagnone and husband Ernest, of New Port Richey, FL. There are 13 grandchildren, many great- grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, the body was cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 9595 Hwy 142, Newborn, GA 30056. The service will be led by his pastor, Rev. Danny Sorrells. The family will receive friends before the service at noon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shiloh Church.
