Hilda Inez Newby Banks

Hilda Inez Newby Banks, age 96, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at The Retreat Nursing Home.

Hilda Banks was born in Covington, Ga., to the late Carl Newby and Dovie Hardy Newby. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She loved to work in her yard and garden.

Her husband, James Banks, Sr., and brothers, Bill Newby, Radus Newby, Grady Newby, and Gene Newby preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James, Jr. and Johnnie Banks of Monticello; daughter, Betty McClendon of Monticello; grandchildren, Christopher David Banks, Connie Langley, Marty McClendon, and John McClendon; great-grandchildren, Robert Banks, Ryan Banks, Haley Banks, David Gwyn, and Michael McClendon; and great-great-grandchildren, Mylee Banks, Chiane Gwyn, Micaela McClendon, Parker McClendon, and Pieper McClendon.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at 11 a.m. at West View Cemetery. Rev. Charles Roper will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher David Banks, Marty McClendon, John McClendon, Robert Banks, Ryan Banks, David Gwyn, and Michael McClendon.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Jordan Funeral Home.
