Willie James ‘Pelo’ Bostic

A celebration of life for Willie James “Pelo” Bostic, who died December 26, 2014, was held Friday, Jan. 2, at Holy Nation Church in Hillsboro. Overseer Patricia Standifer, pastor; Pastor Cornelius McClendon officiated.

Mr. Bostic was born February 15, 1954 to the parents of the late Willie James Bostic, Sr., and Louise Jackson Bostic. He was raised in Jasper County by his grandmothers, the late Georgia Grier, Mollie P. Jackson and Rena Davis.

He attended Jasper County Training School and Monticello High School. At an early age, he joined Springfield Baptist Church and later joined Holy Nation Church under the leadership of the late Overseer Rosa M. Braswell.

He was employed by Georgia-Pacific in Monticello, and his last employment was with Wilcox Asphalt and Concrete. His passion was teaching and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and he loved basketball.

Preceding him in death wre his mother and father, and three sisters, Brenda Hunt, Beverly Gibson and Barbara Jean Bostic.

Survivors include three sons, Andre M. Bostic of Monticello, Willie J. Bostic, II, of Macon and Justin L. Bostic (Kia) of Hillsboro; two daughters Leigh C. Bostic of Monticello and Brandi C. Bostic of Hillsboro; three sisters, Shirley Ann Headd (Jose’) of Milwaukee, Wis., Betty Joyce Smith of Macon, Sandra Joyce Gibson of Alabama; three brothers, Joseph Bostic of Macon, Robert Bostic of Atlanta and Steve Gibson (Joyce) of Macon; two special cousins, Douglas Jackson (Elayne) of Augusta and Danny Norris (Pat) of Decatur; two special friends, Marvis Mason and Cornelius Wilcox, both of Macon, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three aunts, Willie Mae Morris, Donna Blackwell (Henry) and Dorothy Grier, all of Atlanta; an uncle, Charles Grier of Monticello, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was married to Pastor Patricia Braswell.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 923 Funderburg Drive, Monticello, GA 31064, www.smithandsonsfuneralhomemonticello.com was in charge of arrangements.
