Dorothy Bauman
Dorothy Bauman, age 93, passed away on December 15, 2014 in Holland, Michigan.
Born in Monticello, Ga., on October 28, 1921 to the late Frank and Hesper Price, Dottie spent her young life there until she met and married Arthur Bauman of Grand Rapids, Mich. Art and Dottie, as she like to be called, moved to Grand Rapids after they were married. She liked to dance, play cards, and golf. She especially loved spending spring time in Georgia when the dogwood trees were blooming everywhere.
Dottie worked for Lear Siegler as a professional secretary before she and Art retired in Plant City, Fla. After Art’s death, Dottie moved back to Michigan, and lived at Oakcrest. Even though Dottie lived in Michigan longer than she did in Georgia/Florida, she maintained her southern accent and gentle southern charm.
Dottie is survived by her sister, Merrilynn Elliott of Monticello; children, Doug (Sharon) of Ortonville, MI, and Karol Skutnik (Vince) of Holland, MI; grandchildren, Daniel Skutnik (Renae), Erin Skutnik Hawley (Jason), Ryan Bauman and Lindsay Bauman, great- grandchildren, Maddox, Nolan, and Tanner, brother-in-law Willie Durden of Covington, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Art, and her sister Virginia Durden.
Dottie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Holland, Mich.
A time of visitation is planned for Monday, Dec. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dykstra Life Story Funeral Home, Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue, Holland, Michigan. A funeral in Georgia is being planned for a later date with interment at West View Cemetary in Monticello.
