Property Tax Payments Are Due Monday

The final installment of property taxes for Jasper County is due Monday, Dec. 22.

Tax bills were mailed out in August, with property owners given the option of paying all their taxes by October 20, or paying half then, and half by this month. Since the 20th is on Saturday, taxpayers have until Monday to pay taxes on time and avoid any penalty or interest.

Tax Commissioner Angela Walsh said tax payments can now be made online through the website nextpleez.com. She said you go to nextpleez.com/ga/jaspercounty/tax, and then you enter your payment information. It is secured through Paypal. The payer has to pay the transaction fee of 2.2 percent of the tax amount plus 30 cents.

Payments may be made in person at the Courthouse, 126 West Greene St., Suite 125, Monticello, GA 31064, or mailed to that address. The office is on the main floor of the Courthouse, on the left if you enter through the front door.

Mrs. Walsh said they honor the postmark date, so as long as the bill is mailed, and postmarked Monday, the taxpayer will not be penalized.
