Mildred Kelly Allen

Mildred Kelly Allen, 100, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at the Retreat Nursing Home in Monticello.

Mrs. Allen, a life-long resident of Jasper County, was born on September 14, 1914, to the late Ruby Ellis Kelly and Matthew Clyde Kelly.

Mrs. Allen was a member of Monticello United Methodist Church and the Lucye Walker Circle. She was also a former member of the Monticello Garden Club. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Allen and her son, Clyde Allen as well as her sisters, Bessie Kelly Allen and Annie Kelly Jordan.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marilyn May Allen of Macon; her granddaughter, Kelly Allen Solomon and her husband, Steve of Macon; her grandson, Gene Allen of Cumming; three great-grandchildren, Mary English Solomon, Peter Solomon, and Elizabeth Solomon Schorr and her husband, Bobby, and her great-great-grandson, Robert Schorr, all of Macon.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 at the graveside at West View Cemetery in Monticello with the Rev. Stephen Soulen officiating. The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Monticello First United Methodist Church, 651 College Street, Monticello, GA 31064, or The Retreat Nursing Home, 898 College Street, Monticello, GA 31064.
