Michael David Nelson, Sr.

Michael David Nelson, Sr., age 67, of Monticello, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at his residence.

Michael Nelson, Sr. was born in Atlanta, to the late Edward Eugene Nelson and to Marcelle Adams Nelson. He lived in Jonesboro before moving to Monticello in 1985. He was a member of the Shriner’s.

Before retirement, Michael was an electrician for the Ozburn Electric Company.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Hicks Nelson of Monticello; children and daughters-in-law, Michael David, Jr. and Wendy Nelson of Monticello, Tammy Lynn Nelson of Macon, and Rocky Edward and Tracey Nelson of Monticello; grandchildren, Aaron Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Tyler Spain, Alexis Spain, Luke Nelson, and Eli Nelson; mother, Marcelle Adams Nelson of Hampton; and sisters, Judy Hatfield of Fayetteville, Jeannie Newton of Milner, and Jenny Ballard of Hampton.

A memorial service will be held today, Dec. 18, 2014, at 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Terry Ozburn, Trent Ozburn, and Jasper Capps will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Jordan Funeral Home.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the “All About Animals Rescue,” P.O. Box 4331, Macon, Georgia 31208, in memory of Michael Nelson, Sr.
