Tiana Griggs To Receive Key to the City

An appreciation program and Key to the City presentation for Miss Georgia Tiana Griggs will be held this Saturday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church, 514 Funderburg Drive.

The program is slated to last about an hour followed by refreshments and an autograph and photo session. Everyone is invited to make the Monticello native feel welcome and appreciated as she completes her reign as Miss Georgia.

Young ladies ages 3-10 were invited to pre-register and will attend the event as little princesses, complete with sashes and crowns. They will be introduced by reigning Deer Festival Queen Katelin Villarreal and Little Miss Fawn Laynie Matthews.

Several people in the community will make remarks, and there will be ministry in dance presented. Family members of Miss Georgia will also speak.

After Miss Griggs speaks, she will be presented with a key to the city by Mayor Bryan Standifer.

Susan Jacobs will emcee the event, and closing remarks will be made by Tibia Williams Banks, who has been instrumental in organizing the event.
