Sheriff’s Office Makes Drug Arrests

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) concluded a several week long narcotics investigation into the sale and distribution of cocaine in the city of Monticello with an arrest Monday, Dec. 9.
The target of the investigation was Jerome Stokes, 42, of Monticello. The JCSO learned through investigation that Mr. Stokes was known to frequently sell cocaine at the public library as well as the new Family Dollar store on E. Greene Street. As deputies approached Mr. Stokes to arrest him Monday, he fled the scene on a bicycle, and deputies gave chase, pursuing him through the drive through at Hamilton State Bank and catching him in the parking lot of the Presbyterian Church. Once deputies apprehended Mr. Stokes, several baggies of narcotics all individually packaged for resale were found in his possession.

Mr. Stokes was charged with three counts of sale of cocaine, one count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
Deputies with the sheriff’s office also responded to several reports of burglary in the last week. A theft by taking of a Chevy motor and some sheet metal was reported by a resident on the western edge of the county. Two thefts were reported by residents in the city.
Deputies responded to a complaint on West Bullard Road about several items being taken. Lastly, deputies received a complaint of financial transaction card theft.
Persons booked into the Jasper County Detention Center in the last week, and their charges, in addition to Mr. Stokes, include:
•Timothy Justin Willis, 17, McDonough—purchase/possess/manufacture/distribution/sale of marijuana, possession and use of drug related objects, improper display of license plates and visibility violation.
•Charleston Colvert Reid, 40, Eatonton—probation violation.
•Jason Fidell Hurt, 39. Eatonton—probation violation.
•Christian Blair Mason, 26, Mansfield: traffic in cocaine or illegal drugs or marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession or use of drug related objects.
•Joseph Enrico Phillips, 54, Monticello—violation of a protective order.
•Amber Symone Brown, 26, Monticello—probation violation.
