Tommy Jackson
A celebration of life for Tommy Jackson, who died Nov. 24, was held Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, in the chapel of Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Monticello.
Mr. Jackson was born on June 4, 1934 in Jasper County to John Jackson and Eva Kelly.
He attended Rock Springs School. Later, he married Annie E. Walker who is now deceased. Tommy worked at the Simmons Company for many years.
His hobbies were fishing, buying cars and making homemade wine.
He was married to Wilhelmina Hinton of Monticello for 36 years.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include sons, Tommy Jackson, Jr., of Atlanta, Clayton Smith (Mildred) of Greenville, S.C., Anthony Smith and Kip Smith of Monticello; daughters, Pamela Forbes, Charlotte Jackson, Deanna Sanders and Walker Mae Tripp, all of Atlanta, Jackie of Pennsylvania and Mattie Stodghill (Donald) of Monticello; sister, Lena Mae Herndon of Atlanta, and brother, Dr. O.J. Barron of Monticello; two loving God sisters, Mrs. Ella Dumas Standifer of Monticello and Mrs. Jennie Mae Dumas Rogers of Ft. Myers, Fla., 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
