Harold Andrew Morgan
Harold Andrew Morgan, age 91, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.
Harold Morgan was born in Hillsboro to the late Andrew Greer Morgan and Cloda Tillman Morgan. During his youth, Harold attended Hillsboro Methodist Church. After marrying the late Marian Perry Morgan, he attended the Monticello Presbyterian Church.
Harold served as a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II. After the war, he received a degree in Forestry from the University of Georgia.
He was employed by the Georgia Forestry Commission, and retired from Georgia Timberland before starting his own business as a self-employed forester and for many years gave wise advice and counsel to many landowners in Jasper County and throughout central Georgia.
In 1968, he was elected to the Board of Directors for the Bank of Monticello and has continued his service as a director for 37 years. He was a member of Jasper County Masonic Lodge 50F&AM for 67 years.
Along with his parents and wife, Marian Morgan; he was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Fred Carlton Morgan, Thomas Alton Morgan, Hulon Morgan, Wilmer Morgan, Ray Morgan, Aubrey Morgan, and Lorene Robbins.
Harold is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Bill Arnold of Covington, and Nancy and George Stokes of Mansfield; grandchildren and their spouses, Robert and Michelle Cumbie, Jason and Suzanne Stokes, Jennifer and Chad Weesner, and Marshall Stokes; and great-grandchildren, Andrew Cumbie, Matthew Cumbie, Cooper Stokes, Sabrina Stokes, Skylar Grace Stokes, and Raylin Weesner.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at 2 p.m. at West View Cemetery. Pastor Gary Thompson will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Jordan, Don Kelly, Jason Stokes, Marshall Stokes, Robert Cumbie, and Chad Weesner.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.
