Football Contest Winner Gets 14 Right

It was another tough week for The Monticello News football contest, but not as tough as last week’s. This week, eight people got 12 or more right to have their names added to the grand prize honor roll.
However, only one person, Wayne Rye, got as many as 14 right. Mr. Rye only missed on Ole Miss’s loss to Arkansas in spite of several upsets.
For his efforts, Mr. Rye picked up a $25 prize from at Venture Medical Center, sponsor of the week. Mr. Rye said he has played intermittently though the years, and won twice before. He has played regularly this year, and this is the fourth time he’s made the honor roll.
He narrowly edged out Kasey Hall who had 13 right, missing the same game Mr. Rye did as well as Missouri’s defeat of Tennessee. Lots of contestants got all the pros right, but the high school and college games proved more formidable.
Others who had their names added the honor roll for a chance at a ticket package to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta included Janet Davis, Dallas Card, DeAnne Greenway, Tyler Cochran, Dan K. Roberts, and Kim Roberts.
About two dozen others had 11 right, and 100, give or take, only got 10 or less right.
This week, the player who gets the most right, will win a $25 prize from Covington Ford, sponsor of the week.
The News office will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday, but staff will check the fax machine, and entries can be placed through the slot in the front door anytime Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, until 5 p.m.
Anyone can win…football fanatic or picking by the mascot. Just be sure to get your entry in!
