Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public’s Help

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the help of anyone who may have seen something suspicious last Saturday night after dark in the area of Jasper County High School.

A burglary of several thousand dollars worth of loss was reported, and a suspect’s vehicle has been identified. A photo of the suspect and his vehicle can be seen on the sheriff’s office Facebook page. It is not a great photo, but persons familiar with the truck may recognize it.

Anybody with any information, or possible information, is asked to call the sheriff’s office, 706-468-4912, and ask to speak to an investigator. Anonymous tips may be left at 706-468-JCSO (5276). Large items were taken, so passersby may have seen something and not even realized it. Any information is appreciated.

The sheriff’s office is also investigating numerous other burglaries, including a break-in at Dexter Axle over the weekend. A property owner in rural Jasper, southwest of town reported the theft of a water pump. A worker at Circle K reported a gas drive-off, and a resident of Shady Dale reported that his gas line had been cut and gas taken.

Two other burglaries were also reported during the week, one including electronics, and another of a deer stand.

Several arrests were reported over the week, including the arrest of Donald Lee Dupree, 42, of Monticello, who is facing 90 counts of financial transaction card fraud, and 56 counts of financial transaction card theft. Mr. Dupree used a card that was not his own numerous times between January and September of his year. He faces 1-3 years on each count.
