Eddie Carl “Big” Davis

A celebration of life for Eddie Carl “Big” Davis, who died October 24, 2014, was held Friday, Oct. 31, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Monticello. Rev. Donna Marie Calix, pastor, officiated; burial was in South View Cemetery.

Eddie Davis was born September 23, 1954 to Emma Davis and the late Eddie Davis.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and St. James A.M.E. Church in Monticello. He attended Monticello High School and graduated in 1972. He later decided to go tot the Institute of Security and Technology School, from which he graduated in 1991.

Eddie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Marcia Ann Davis on April 24, 1998. To this union he was a proud father to two boys and four girls. Eddie faithfully served 18 years at Georgia Pacific and 20 years on the Monticello Police Department.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Gertie Sue Barron.

In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves to cherish his memories six loving children, Shynetra Davis of Ellenwood, Crystal Barron Griffin, Marcus Clemons, Candice Davis, Keldrick Davis and Keri Davis, all of Monticello; father-in-law, Bernice Barron; stepmother, Gloria Davis; five sisters and two brothers; Ezzard Charles Davis of Monticello, Evelyn David Boyden of Ellenwood, Lisa Davis Wall of Rochester, N.Y., Donnis Davis (Gladys) of Stone Mountain, and Vanessa Davis of Long Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren, Mackenzi Griffin, Drayeonna Clemons and Kaliyah Davis, all of Monticello; eight sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; Rickey Barron, Carmen Stone (John), Bernelle Barron (Dichelle), Valerie (Carl Pennamon), Donna Barron, Donnie Griffin (John), Michelle Fuller (Rehard), Monica Cash (Jeff), Thomas Barron (Keisha), Bernika Dennis, Katoya Porter, Maiquise Maddox, Tonya Williams and Mercedes Williams, Tamma Alexander and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
