Taylor Fields Wins Football Contest Again

For the second time in two weeks, Taylor Fields beat a field of more than 150 players to win The Monticello News football contest.

And, his little brother Justyn Fields, got to pick up the prize again. Justyn accepted a $25 gift card from Payton Harwood at Lewis BP, sponsor of the week.

And, Justyn also made the honor roll this week, as did lots of others. Eleven players correctly guessed the winner in 14 games listed in last week’s contest. However, Taylor was closest on the tie-breaker. He guessed 64 points would be scored in Piedmont’s shellacking of Dawson Street, 62-12.

Another 37 players correctly guessed the winners of 13 games listed, and 31 more guessed the winners in 12 games listed. All of those names have been added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll for a four ticket package to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta at the end of the year.

Those names, along with this week’s contest games, can be seen on page 11 of today’s paper. In addition, there are complete rules and an entry form. If you haven’t played before, it’s not too late to join the fun. Some regulars said the contest was too hard; obviously last week’s was not.

And, anyone can play, anyone can win. You don’t have to be a football fanatic to guess the winner in each of 15 games listed. Sometimes the winner is skilled; sometimes he or she is lucky.

This week, one player will pick up a prize worth $25 from Dairy Queen, sponsor of the week. Just fill out the entry form, or write your answers on a piece of paper, and submit it to The News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 31. Entries may be faxed to 706-468-6576.
