Deer Festival Pageant Is Sunday
Monticello will celebrate its 48th Annual Deer Festival this year and will again feature the crowning of Miss Deer Festival and Little Miss Fawn.
The pageant will be held this Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium at Jasper County High School, 14477 Hwy 11 North.
Everyone is invited to come out and watch the pageant, maybe make their own selections and see what the judges decide. Admission is $2.
The candidates for the 2014 Deer Festival Queen include Karin Arnold, Cassidy Brown, Mary MacKenzie Evans, Madison Fish, Brandi McMichael, Haley Tyler, and Katelin Villarreal.
The candidates for the 2014 Little Miss Fawn include Madalyn Bryant, Ava Faith Cook, Skyler Farley, Payton Hicks, Paisleigh Holman, Laynie Matthews, Kylee-Grace McDonald, and Lillie Belle Perry.
Contestants were required to complete applications highlighting their interests and accomplishments, even giving their pet’s name and listing their favorite song.
A mandatory rehearsal will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. All contestants must report for check in for the pageant at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Little Miss Fawn will be crowned on Sunday, however the Deer Festival Queen will not be announced until the Deer Festival. The court will be featured in the program on the stage at 1 p.m., when the queen will be crowned.
