Mrs. Jefferies died Sunday, Oct. 5.
She was born to Joseph Solomon, Sr. and Addie Mae Robinson Solomon on August 29, 1939 in Jasper County.
Her parents, two brothers, Joseph Jr. and Fred Solomon; a daughter, Joann Griggs, a son, Jimmy Lee II; mother-in-law, Cornelia Griggs; six brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and aunts and uncles all preceded her in death.
She joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age and received her education in the Morgan County school system. Later she met and married the love of her life, Jimmy Lee Jefferies, Sr. They were together 45 years until Mr. Jefferies’ passing in 2002.
Although she had many jobs, her most enjoyment was growing beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She equally enjoyed her pet (Bruno) and being around her children and teaching her grandchildren Bible scriptures. She served on the Mother Board of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jefferies leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Sharon Jefferies, and a son, Kenneth Jefferies, both of Shady Dale; a daughter (Niecy) Bernice Ford and Jeff Ford of Gordon; 10 grandchildren, Jimmy III (Dilly), Adrienne, Quincy and Quinez Griggs, Shamir Gude, Shay Thomas, Myka Martin, KiAmber Jefferies, Kieon Jefferies and Ja-mi Lawrences; 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Hattie Mae Williams of Monticello and Margaret Smith (William) of Covington; brothers, Lucious Solomon of Oxford and James Malvin Solomon of Covington; eight sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
