Othis Lee Gude
Mr. Othis Lee Gude was born December 28, 1951 to the late Mr. And Mrs. Samuel Gude, Sr. and MaElla Guy. He graduated from Jasper County Training School in 1969.
He died September 9, 2014. Services were held Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Shady Dale. Rev. Annette Gude Howard offriciated; Rev.Michelle Rizor-Poole, pastor.
Brother Gude was a very compassionate person, and he had a love for all people. He was very talented and skillful with his hands. He worked self-employed for many years and started his own construction company in 1985.
He joined Mt. Zion AME Church at a young age under Rev. Myricks. He served as as Jr. Steward and later served on the Trustee Board. He appointed as a Pro-tem, and served as the Treasurer of the Building Fund. For many years, Brother Gude served as the Sexton of Mt. Zion and he contributed many restorations and building projects at the church.
Othis was preceded in death by his siblings, Annie Vera, Dorothy Mae, Theodore (Ned), Gotine, Ginny, Martha, Mary, Charlie, Marvin, Walker, Eddie, and Jesse Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Mrs. Mable Gude; three daughters, Janis Duncan (Jerry), of Oxford, LaQuilla Gude, of Conyers, and Martisha Gude, of Covington; three Sons, Tyrone Avery (Brook) of St. Louis, MO, Tony Gude of Serra Vista, AZ, and Kelvin B. Smith, of Covington;.
Also, six grandchildren, Alexis “Muffyn” whom he raised as his own child, Tyserica, Tiesha, Rashawn, Antonijah,and Quindarrius; two great-grandchildren, Kobe and Ivy Skye “Sammi;” two sisters, Rev. Annette Gude Howard (Comer), Mrs. Catherine Standifer (Richard); three brothers, Samuel Gude Jr. (Zenobia), Fred Gude (Lozie), and Nathaniel Gude (Tinia); a special cousin, Mrs. Elizabeth Chatman; a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and a very special friend, Mrs. Shirley Thomas.
