Burglaries Are Reported
A Jasper County resident arrived home Sunday evening after being gone for more than a week to find all her possessions had been removed from the property that she rents.
Missing from the address in Turtle Cove were televisions, living room and bedroom furniture, appliances, electronic equipment, and more, even the rugs were taken from the home.
Capt. Mike Steele with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said they are investigating the incident from several angles.
Other thefts were reported in the county in the past week, but nothing nearly as drastic.
A resident on the north end of the county also reported appliances being stolen. A washer and dryer were taken from a Newborn address, along with a television and a homemade trailer.
Another burglary was reported, but it appeared to be someone known to the victim had taken the items, according to the report from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. In another instance a GPS system was taken from a vehicle.
One person reported a possible identity theft, and another reported fraudulent use of a debit card or check where money was being taken from a person’s account without his permission or knowledge.
A warrant was taken in Magistrate Court for the arrest of Eric Lamar Blackwell, 28, of Newborn, who was charged with child molestation. Mr. Blackwell has since been booked into the Jasper County Detention Center.
