Thomas Franklin “Tommy” Thompson
Thomas Franklin “Tommy” Thompson, age 76, of Monticello, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at his residence.
“Tommy” Thompson was born in Decatur, Ala., to the late John Carlton Thompson and Gladys Raines Thompson. Before retirement, Tommy was a timber buyer for Georgia Craft for 31 years. He lived in Jones County for a number of years and returned to Monticello over 30 years ago.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby, Thomas Bruce Thompson; and brother, Charles Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Jean Banks Thompson of Monticello; son, Thomas Scott Thompson and Jimmy Mathis of Cochran; daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Marlin Linthicum of Monticello, and Rhonda and Darrell Grimes of Gray; grandchildren, Candace McCart, Chad Winther, Casey Winther, Michael Linthicum, Andrea Thompson, Bin Grimes, and Brandon Grimes; great-grandchildren, Justin McCart, and Jackson McCart; and brothers and sister, Bill Thompson of Macon, Darlene Pinson of Winterville, and Jerry Thompson of Athens.
A graveside service will be held at 11:15 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2014, at West View Cemetery. Pastor Jason Parr will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2014, prior to the service, at Jordan Funeral Home.
