Store Is Burglarized; Suspect Arrested

In the early morning hours of August 16—around 1:27 a.m., deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm call at the Monticello Food Mart located at 210 West Greene St.
Deputies arrived on scene at 1:33 a.m., and observed a broken front window. Further investigation revealed the business had been burglarized. An investigator with the Sheriff’s Office responded to process the crime scene and continue the investigation.
The items stolen included rolled quarters, alcoholic beverages and lottery tickets. By about 4 a.m. the same morning the Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the suspect who committed the burglary.
On Monday, Aug. 18 the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gregory Garnett Robinson Jr. and charged him with second degree burglary in connection with the incident.
Deputies have also recovered merchandise stolen from a home in Turtle Cove last Wednesday, although no arrests have been made yet in connection with that burglary. A Canon camera with several lenses, and miscellaneous other items were taken.
A burglary was also reported on Funderburg Drive, where thieves took appliances and electronics.
A resident on Wyatt Road reported the burglary of several items from her home, including electronics and bicycles.

•Mark Dewayne Digby, 35, Covington—giving false name or address to law enforcement officer, no proof of insurance, driving while license suspended or revoked, no drivers license on person and unregistered motor vehicle tag.
•Emmanuel Togba, 29, Monticello—Jasper County Superior Court bench warrant.
•Niasia Nikkia Davis, 25, Monticello—Jasper County Magistrate Court bench warrant.
•David Tinsley, Jr., 35, Monticello—hold for warrant in DeKalb Co.
•Bobby Gene Strickland, 50, Jackson: driving while license suspended or revoked, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and littering.
Deputies also responded to 342 other calls for service, including 109 checking location, 92 stopping suspicious person or vehicle, 14 mechanical breakdown, 13 subject needs officer; 11 pick-up prisoner/suspect; 10 alarm calls, and numerous other miscellaneous calls.
