Eight Are Arrested during Week
Very little crime was reported over the last week, and only eight arrests were reported. Among the criminal incidents was a complainant in Hillsboro who said he purchased a 2006 Freightliner truck on June 30. Sometime between then and July 23, someone entered his property and stole a generator and air conditioning components from the truck.
In another incident, a city of Monticello resident reported the theft of some drugs. Also, an alarm sounded at a residence near the lake, and deputies found a door had been kicked in.
That was the extent of the burglaries reported during the past week.
Persons who were arrested included:
•David Michael Stowe, 50, Newborn—possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
•John Thomas Hilley, 19, Social Circle—probation violation.
•David Christopher Hardwick, 48, Monticello—obstruction of a law enforcement officer, public drunkenness and public indecency.
•Jennifer Leigh Wojcik, 29, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol (child endangerment), failure to maintain lane and failure to dim headlights.
•Antonio Dewayne Dumas, 33, Monticello—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers and child support.
•George Ray Price, 39, Milledgeville—driving while license suspended or revoked.
•William Boyd Black, 70, Mansfield—driving while license suspended or revoked and false statements and writings.
•Marcus Mandress Campbell, 33, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while license suspended or revoked and headlight/ defective equipment violation.
Also, since last Monday, deputies responded to numerous calls both in the city of Monticello and throughout the county.
Deputies responded to 20 calls of suspicious person or vehicle in Monticello city limits, and another 50 outside the city. They responded to eight alarm calls in the city, and another 13 outside the city.
Deputies responded to 24 complaints of subject needs officer, two of which were in the city. There were 146 reports of checking location.
They responded to eight calls of escort or convoy and six of those were in the city. They also responded to eight calls to a domestic dispute, three of which were in the city.
In addition to those calls, deputies responded to numerous other miscellaneous complaints for a total of 378 between Monday, July 21, and 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 29.
