Richard Dale “Rick” Raines

Richard Dale “Rick” Raines, 61, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. Rick was born in Martinsburg, W.V. January 3, 1953, the son of the late Herman Lee Raines and Betty Lee Engelbright Raines who survives.

Rick was retired Master Chief in the United States Navy with 26 years service. He had been Yard manager for Blake Building Supply in Griffin. He was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and Awana leader. Rick enjoyed photography and hiking.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Diane Davis Raines of Jackson; sons and daughters-in-law, Jacob Ryan and Abigail Raines, Matthew Dalton and Andrea Raines, Stephen Richard and Jenna Raines and Samuel Lee Raines.

Also, stepdaughters, Jennifer Lauren Kitchens, Whitney Leighann and Christopher Berry; grandchildren, Adelyn Raines, Camden Raines, Audrey Raines, Olivia Raines and Connor Raines; step-grandchildren, Jasmine Berry, Elise Berry, Maya Berry and Hayden Kitchens; sisters and brother-in-law, Debbie and Jim Herndon and Mary Beth Moore; brothers and sisters in law, Mark and Debbie Raines and Gray and Loreena Raines; mother-in-law, Janet Davis of Monticello; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. Raines were held Saturday, July 19, at First Baptist Church in Jackson. Rev. Keith Joseph officiated; interment with military honors was in West View Cemetery in Monticello.
