Back-To-School Rally Set

A back-to-school rally and resource fair will be held this Saturday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to noon at Washington Park Elementary School, offering school supplies to anyone who comes, and introducing attendees to services that are offered by various agencies throughout the county.

Entertainment will be provided, along with a bounce house for the kids, and free hot dogs are available.

Students will be able to get free backpacks, notebook paper, pencils, and lots more, while learning about services offered such as through the Department of Family and Children Services, the Mentor Program, the Ferst Foundation, Turtle Cove, Georgia Military College, and lots more.

One booth this year will feature the communication committee of the Forward Jasper group (see related story), and parents will be asked to complete a survey on how to better our community.

In addition, a clothes closet for the entire community will be held that day in the fellowship hall of Monticello First United Methodist Church, 651 College Street, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clothes are available for back to school, but there are also adult clothes, and everyone is invited. Those looking for job interview clothes, work clothes, play clothes…anyone is welcome to “shop” at the clothes closet.
