Probation Revoked; Persons Sentenced

Several persons had their probation revoked during a motion day last week in Jasper Superior Court, while others chose arraignment day to plead guilty to their charges or lesser charges to settle their cases, making for a busy day July 1.

Judge William A. Prior presided over the motion day, including numerous civil matters along with the following probation revocations.

Telly F. Banks had his probation revoked after he tested positive for cocaine at the Dekalb Central Probation office. He failed to report to the office on May 20, 2014 as directed. His probation was revoked and he as sentenced to 180 days in the Jasper County Jail suspended upon entry into a probation detention center for 60-90 days. Upon release he will be returned to regular probation supervision.

Rickey N. Perry had his probation revoked for 180 days in the Jasper county Jail, suspended upon entry into a probation detention center for 120-180 days, then return to regular probation. Mr. Perry committed the new offenses of misdemeanor theft by taking in Columbia County. He has not reported to the Eatonton probation office since his release from prison on September 27, 2011, and he has failed to make a payment and is currently in arrears $574.

Quantez Jackson had his probation revoked after the probationer committed the new offense of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, less than an ounce, and speeding in Jasper County. He was revoked 180 days to the Jasper County Jail suspended upon entry into a probation detention center for 60-90 days and return to regular probation upon release.

Julius Lamar Martin had his probation revoked/modified requiring him to serve 60 days in the Jasper County Jail. Upon release, Mr. Martin will obtain a substance abuse evaluation and return to regular probation. He tested positive for THC twice at the Morrow Probation office. He also failed to attend and complete an alcohol and drug evaluation as instructed.

Hakeel D. Norwood had his probation revoked to serve 120 days in the Jasper County Jail, and upon completion, return to regular probation. He failed to report to the Eatonton probation office on three occasions and was not at home for his 7 p.m. curfew on two occasions, and also failed to complete his community service hours.

Christian Scott Gilreath was sentenced on March 25, 2014 to probation for various offenses, and was charged with driving while license suspended on or about May 29, 2014 in Rockdale County. He also has failed to report, and failed to make regularly scheduled payments toward court ordered fines and fees. He was sentenced to 45 days in the Jasper County jail with credit for time served since date of arrest. He shall make a $300 payment towards his probation arrears, and upon release be returned to regular probation.

Pleas

In addition to the probation revocations listed, a number of people plead to various charges and were sentenced as follows:

•Michael Shiane Smith, who was charged with possession of methamphetamine and 10 counts of forgery in the second degree, was sentenced to pay $1,500 and six years with the first five months to be served in the Jasper County jail, and the remainder on probation.

•Kathleen Farrell Matthews, who was charged with two counts each of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, and hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal, was sentenced to $2,000 and six years to be served on probation.

•Walker Dewayne Williams, who was charged with pointing a gun or pistol at another, obstruction of an officer, and public drunkenness, was fined $500, and sentenced to 12 months probation on each charge to run concurrent.

•Adam Lee Phillips, who was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, less than an ounce, obstruction of an officer, and theft by taking, was sentenced to $1,000 fine, and eight years to be served on probation.

•Calvin Heath Ledford, who was charged with criminal attempt to commit enticing a child for indecent purposes, was fined $1,500, and sentenced to 10 years to be served on probation, with specific sex offender conditions.

•Daniel Lee Bradshaw, who was charged with manufacture of marijuana and tampering with evidence, was fined $1,000, and sentenced to four years to be served on probation.

•Marcus Allen Rogers, who was charged with possession of marijuana less than an ounce, and terroristic threats which was reduced to disorderly conduct, was fined $400 and sentenced to 24 months to be served on probation.

•Quantez Demond Jackson, who was charged with possession of marijuana less than an ounce, was sentenced to $300 fine and 12 months probation.

•Amber Deanne Strickland, who was charged with possession of marijuana, less than an ounce, was required to pay $300, and was sentenced to 12 months probation.

•Bradley Wayne Biddy, who was charged with disorderly conduct, was fined $300, and 12 months to be served on probation.

•Anthony Eugene Parker, who was charged with possession of marijuana, less than an ounce, was fined $500, and sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation.

•Qiana Daviete Manning, who was charged with possession of controlled substance near a school, pled guilty to the lesser charge of misdemeanor possession, and was fined $500, and sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation.

(The fines listed above is what the judge ordered, with mandated add-ons, the defendant must pay more than the base fine.)

In addition, numerous people were arraigned, and bench warrants were issued for Melvin Cooper, Michael William Freeman, and Wilbur Richard White, Jr.
