Sanders James Hardeman

A celebration of life for Mr. Sanders James Hardeman was held Monday, June 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. Springfield Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Jimmy Horton, Pastor.

Sanders James Hardeman entered this world on December 1,1956 to the parentage of his devoted mother Beaulah Hardeman. His early years were spent in the Mansfield area, where he completed his education at Newton County High School. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mount Zion A.M.E Church of Mansfield.

Jim, “Jim DANDY’ and “Jimbo” were many different nicknames by which he was affectionately known to match all of the different ways he loved to live life. Jim’s motto was “it is what it is,” and he had no problem letting anyone know exactly ‘what was what.” With Jim you always knew where you stood.

Jim was a hard worker, and was employed for 11 years at Berry Plastic until he retired on 2009 for health reasons.

His great passions were hanging out with the “Boys of Summer,” and enjoying a game of baseball, throwing horse shoes, as well as spending time at the NHRA Races with friends and family, and especially his faithful brother “Curt.”

Jim lived, loved, and laughed with gusto. His eyes from color and zest for clothes made him a sharp dresser. No matter whether the occasion was formal or casual, every piece from head to toe had to match and be topped off the perfect “brim” ….no matter how long it took.

But, one of Jim’s greatest affections was for his most loyal “road dog,” his dedicated wife, Beverly. Jim and Beverly enjoyed traveling, dining out and “fussing with each other,” until his health failed him.

Jim was preceded in death by one brother and sister.

In addition to his mother and wife, Jim leaves to cherish his memory three children, Michael Key, Eureka Mitchell, Cordellro Johnson; a stepson Victor Belcher (Sheila), and a “daughter of the heart” Alexis Williams; seven grandchildren; one brother, Curtis Hardeman (Doris); one sister, Shelia Gaither; sister-in-laws, Mary Jean Standifer, Corlis Rowena Lewis (John); step-brothers and step-sisters, Luther Smith, La Verne Smith, Annie Nell Smith, Ether Jean Smith, Gladys Avery; uncles, Willie Hardeman, Terry Hardeman (Berenice); and aunt, Rosie Lucy Hardeman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Final arrangements were entrusted to Evergreen Funeral Home, 706-468-9393.
