ACCIDENTS ABOUND IN COUNTY

Accidents abounded in Jasper County during the last week with this bad accident occurring last Thursday morning on 16 west, just inside the county. Later that day a tractor trailer jackknifed on Hwy. 16 east, just inside the county. The sheriff’s office was called to 11 accidents last week, while the city investigated three, and the state patrol came for three.

In the one Thursday morning, Daniel Lagano, driving a 1998 Chevrolet GMC, was traveling east on Hwy. 16 just before Sac-O-Suds. At the same time, Lionel Hamilton was driving a Volvo tractor trailer headed west on Hwy. 16. While both were negotiating the curve, Mr. Lagano apparently fell asleep, and drifted into the oncoming lane, and the two vehicles collided head-on, according to the report from the Georgia State Patrol.
