Doris Boatwright Thomson

Doris Boatwright Thomson, age 85, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Pine Pointe Hospice of Central Georgia in Macon.

Doris Thomson was born in Ridge Spring, S.C. to the late David Boatwright and Louise Boatwright. She lived in Atlanta for a few years before moving to Monticello in 1954. Doris was a member of the Monticello First United Methodist Church. She was an avid Atlanta Braves and Georgia Tech fan. She loved to sew, crochet, bake and work in her yard. Before retirement, Doris was a registered nurse for Jasper Memorial Hospital for over 50 years. After retirement, she continued working at the Primary Care Center.

Her husband, Carlos Dinkens Thomson, Sr.; and sister and brother, Ethelyn Mitchell and Wayne David Boatwright preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carlos D., Jr. and Teresa Thomson of Monticello; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Bill Slocumb of Monticello; grandchildren, Sabrina Slocumb, Stefanie Thomson, and Frank Christian; and great-grandson, Hunter James Thomson.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 15, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Monticello First United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Revs. Ryan Wyatt and Stephen L. Soulen will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Barry Wyatt, Neal Leggett, Rob Leggett, Bobby Trotter, Philip Heard, and Frank Christian. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Malone Cunard, J. S. Wilson, and Carlton Henderson.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 14, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Jasper Memorial Hospital 898 College Street, Monticello, GA 31064.
