Probationer Sentenced to Eight Years

Kerry Lydell Jackson was sentenced to serve five years in the state penal system in Superior Court Tuesday, with Judge Hulane E. George, presiding.

Mr. Jackson, who was on probation for the charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in November of 2010, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of purchase/possess/manufacture/distribution or sale of marijuana, possession of a firearm by first offender and obstruction of an officer.

Mr. Jackson was sentenced to eight years with two years to serve and the remainder to be served on probation, with credit for time served since May 15, 2014.

Two other probation violation were processed with details listed below:

•Tina Renee King, who was on probation for the charges of meth and speeding in November of 2013, was found to have violated the terms of probation via the new charges of possession of meth, possession of drug related objects, failure to report, and failure to complete community service.

Ms. King was sentenced to serve two years in the state penal system and upon completion have the case terminated.

•Robert Ross, who was on probation for the charge of two counts of burglary in August of 2010, was found to have violated the terms of probation via the new charges of failure to report and failure to make consistent payments on court ordered fines and fees.

Mr. Ross was released and given 60 days to pay $1,000, and upon failure to do so turn himself in to the county jail to serve 180 days, suspended upon entry into a probation detention center for 60-90 days and upon release return to regular probation.
