Tierra Whitlock Captures State Titles

Tierra Whitlock captured two state titles in the high jump and 300 meter hurdles.

Also, Miss Whitlock was one-fourth of the 400 meter relay team that finished in fourth place with a time of 49.45. The relay team included Janee Chapman, Alkeili Ross, Destiny Glawson, and Miss Whitlock.

The 300 meter hurdles event was a good one for the Lady Hurricanes as Kamia Thomas finished seventh in the event with a time of 47.28 seconds earning JCHS two spots on the medals podium.

In addition to those previously named, the seven Lady ‘Canes traveling to Albany for the championships also included Megan Roberts and Talia Norwood. Miss Roberts qualified for the pole vault event but sustained an injury last week during sectionals and could not compete.

The boy’s state championships will begin today, May 8 and continue through Saturday, May 10 in Jefferson. ‘Cane Jay Johnson will compete in the long jump event.
