Saturday Is Busy Day on Square

This Sunday, May 11, is Mother’s Day, and the day before is always a busy one in Monticello.

The Market on the Square (MOTS) will open Saturday, offering home-grown vegetables and plants and assorted hand crafted items.

This year, in conjunction with the MOTS, Heartland Clinic of Chiropractic is sponsoring a Spring Fling featuring local entrepreneurs selling an assortment of items that would be great for mother’s day gifts or for anyone. There will also be live musical entertainment, and activities for the children. The “spring fling” lasts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition, the United Methodist Men are having a Chickenque on the Square, beginning at 11 a.m.

Last, but not least, all the merchants on the Square will be open, offering friendly, hometown service. Monticello Drugs even has a coupon in today’s paper, so when shopping there you can save an extra 20 percent off your Mother’s Day or other gift items.

And, if that’s not enough, the Friends of the Library will have a booth on the Square, then will be meeting at the Library at 10:30 a.m.

And, while in town, Jasperites can take advantage of the Saturday voting opportunity, if desired, and cast their vote for the upcoming primary.

And, after a quick visit to the Square, some families may want to head to Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center for the annual JAKES day.

Visit the Monticello Square this Saturday, May 10, beginning at 8 a.m. and support your local merchants and find a unique gift for mom.
