Men Charged with Possession, Intent
On May 1, 2014, Richard Todd Thomas, 49, of a Covington address was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm or knife while attempting to commit a crime, possession of drug related objects, open container and driving unsafe or improperly equipped vehicle, according to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
Mr. Thomas was arrested after he was stopped in the area Hwy. 212 and the Jackson Lake bridge and a search of his car resulted of the discovery of the methamphetamine and firearms.
Also, on April 29, 2014, a deputy with the JCSO arrested Charles Wayne Sanders, 55, of Social Circle and charged him with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession and use of drug related objects and theft by receiving stolen property. The arrest was made at a residence on Herds Creek Road when the deputy, who was there to serve him with a civil paper, discovered a film container that was filled with methamphetamine.
Two other criminal incidents reported by the JCSO for the past week are as follows:
•On May 5 a resident on Feldspar Road reported the theft of the center taillight of her Cadillac.
•On May 1 a resident on Hwy 16 West reported the theft of a red generator and a black gas tank.

The JCSO also reported the following additional arrests for the period of April 29 through May 6:
•Stiven Dontae Williams, 19, Eatonton—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
•Alissa Dawn Reynolds, 34, Newborn—disruption of public schools.
•Teresa Marie Schwartz, 25, Carrollton—Jasper County Superior Court failure to appear bench warrant.
•Bobby Shane Strange, 35, Covington—hold for warrant in Newton County.
•Tina Renee King, 53, Covington—possession of methamphetamine, probation violation and possession of drug related objects.
•Lisa Dianne McCullough, 36, Covington—financial identity fraud and open container.
•Jack Ryan Parker, 29, Goldsboro, NC—driving while license suspended or revoked and tail light violation.
•Ronald Wayne Wilkins, 50, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
•Dustin Lee Raynor, 19, Social Circle—probation violation and Jasper Superior Court failure to appear bench warrant.
•Mary Ann Cleveland, 41, Patterson—probation violation.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 190 calls for service including 73 checking location, 21 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, nine each subject needs officer, road hazard and alarm, six domestic, five each assist motorist, accident and livestock on road, four each juvenile complaint and argument.
Also, three each theft by taking, four wheeler, discharge firearms, music/noise complaint, vandalism of property, persons refusing to leave, attempt to serve warrant and 911 hang up, two each escort or convoy, mechanical breakdown, and trouble unknown, one each fight, prowler report, intoxicated driver, chest pain, overdose, dead on arrival, private property, threatening/harassing calls, road block and identity fraud/theft.
During this same period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the arrest of McArthur Reid, 32, of an Eatonton address, and held him for an outstanding warrant in Putnam County.
Also during this period officers with the MPD responded to 100 calls for service including 34 escort or convoy, 24 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, and five alarm.
Also, four checking location, three each subject needs officer, trouble unknown and music/noise complaint, two each fight, private property, threatening/harassing calls, road hazard and persons refuse to leave, one each domestic, assist motorist, speeding auto, courtesy ride, intoxicated driver, mechanical break down, theft by taking, mental person, shortness of breath, assault, extra patrol, juvenile complaint, argument and utility department needed.
