JCHS To Get New Athletic Staff
The Jasper County High School Athletic Department will undergo an overhaul in staffing for the 2014-2015 athletic year.
As reported previously in the April 17th edition of The News, the Jasper County School Board voted to accept the resignations of varsity football coach Eddie Roberts and varsity basketball coach Allen Atkins.
In addition to those personnel changes that require additional staffing, the department will also have a new athletic director (AD) and varsity girls coach.
Current AD Chris Jenkins, who was recently voted 2014 AD of the Year for Region 4AA, will be displaced as AD though he will still continue to teach and coach softball and baseball.
Along those same lines, Dionka Davis-Jackson, former JCHS athlete and veteran coach of girls’ basketball, will not begin the new season as varsity girls’ coach but will retain her teaching position.
The search for these replacements are currently in process as JCHS Principal Robyn Mullis is spearheading the search.
It is not known when contracts for these positions will be offered as interviewing is still in the process.
In regards to spring football drills which are normally under way at this point in the season, the program will opt for two scrimmages, according to current AD.
