Community Band Concert Is Friday

The Monticello Community Band, a group of local and regional musicians, will present “Voyage Into Space” on Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in the Jasper County High School auditorium.

The concert band will perform several space-themed pieces, including Lullaby From a Distant Star, The Planets, Star Wars – The Marches, Symphonic Suite from Star Trek, Encomium for the Courageous, Also Sprach Zarathustra, Music from Apollo 13 and Saturn: The Ringed Planet.

Limited advance tickets ($5/person and $15/family) are available at the Snap’n Turtle and the Chamber of Commerce. Tickets at the door are $10/person.

Support local and regional musicians Christy Bailey, Mary Camp, Tara Nye, Regis Marie Stamey, Amber Payne and Anna Parker on flute, Kim Savage, Katrina Walker, David Haisten, Ashley DeVane and Faith Vaughn on clarinet, Conner Wall on oboe and Ralph Hickman on saxophone.

Also, Chris Savage, Matthew Jernigan, Clay Evans, Sandra Shockley, Austin Norwood and Jimmy Jordan on trumpet, Suzy Mitchell and William Matthews on horn, Greg Holder, Taylor Edwards, Jasmine El-Jourbagy, Bob Trouteaud, Robert Cumbie and Ray Buck on trombone, Erin Buck and Johnny Smith on baritone, Mark Thomas on tuba and Matthew Benton, Tristan Armstrong, Cameron Whitener, James Sampson, Kaitlyn Merck and Tyson Harty on percussion.
