Piedmont Soccer Teams Head to Postseason

Piedmont Academy’s varsity soccer teams completed their regular seasons Friday and are now set for postseason play.

The Lady Cougars fell to Trinity Christian 3-1. Senior Jordon Blackmon scored the team’s lone goal on a penalty kick.

Piedmont’s girls began state play Wednesday against First Presbyterian Christian in Hinesville.

Piedmont’s boys opened state play Tuesday with a long road trek to Frederica. The Cougars completed the regular season with a 2-0 loss to Trinity Christian last week at home.

In the playoff match Tuesday, Piedmont fell 13-1. Barrett Whitaker scored the lone goal for the Cougars. Coach Jeff Kent said Owen Kimball played “excellent” in goal.

“It could have been worse had he not been our goalie,” the coach said.
