Lady ‘Cane Golfers Win Region

The Lady ‘Canes teed it up at Uchee Trail Country Club Golf Course in Cochran Monday in the Region Golf Tournament and drove, chipped and putted their way to the Region Championship.

The ladies defeated Taylor and Putnam Counties and then went on to defeat Bleckley with a team score of 220 to 223. Taylor Garrett was the low medalist with a score of 108.

The Lady ‘Canes golf team will advance to the state tournament scheduled to be held at Pointe South Golf Course in Hephzibah, on May 19.

The ladies golf team includes (right, left to right) Heather Harrison, Taylor Garrett, Coach Matt Tumlin, Taylor Moss, and Alexix Evers.

The boys were runners up in the region, losing in the last round to Bleckley by a score of 339 to 389. Normally the second place team advances to state, however, due to the cut score mandate of 360, they will not.

Ady Dahod did have the low medalist score for a non-advancing team, of 87.

The boys golf team (see page 14) includes Drew Williamson, Payton Harwood, Jacob Bowers, Ady Dahod, Clint Strawn, and Hunter Candler.
