Friends of the Library To Be Revitalized

The Jasper County Friends of the Library group is being revitalized, and a kick-off meeting is planned for Saturday, May 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jasper County Library.

Everyone is invited to attend the meeting. There will be a discussion of the purpose of the ‘Friends’ group, selection of board members, and planning of activities for the upcoming year.

A “Friends of the Library” group was very active here in the early 1980s, and responsible for building the current library, a huge upgrade.

In 2004, Thomas Persons died and left money to the library for the recent renovation and upgrade housing an expansive collection dedicated to him.

The library has been open seven days a week since last July, and the use has increased tremendously. The Library Board members said this was a good time to revitalize the “Friends” group.

Bill Schilling has agreed to head up the Friends group.
