Cougar Golfers Finish Second in Region

Branson Parish was the region low medalist, and the Piedmont Academy golf team finished second overall at Monday’s 4-AA competition at Hunter Pope Country Club.

Parish, who was also named All-Region for the 2014 season, fired a round of 79 (39 on front nine and 40 on back nine) to earn the low medalist honor.

P.J. Leonetti finished with a score of 94 followed by teammates Payden Cantera (96), Chandler Burrell (102) and James Marks (105.)

Team-wise, Piedmont was five strokes behind Flint River with an overall team score of 371.

Parish’s round of 79 was seven strokes better than Yinous Lai of Brandon Hall. Hannah Solesbee of Oak Mountain was girls low medalist at region.

Piedmont, coached by Michael Wilson, will now compete at the state meet Monday at Jekyll Island Pine Lake Golf Course.
