Several Are Sentenced in Court
Justin Cooper Singletary appeared in Superior Court Tuesday, with Judge E. Trenton Brown, presiding, where he pled guilty to escape, interference with government property, obstruction of an officer (two counts), possession of marijuana less than one ounce and possession of drug related objects.
Mr. Singletary was sentenced to five years with the first 160 days to be served in the county jail and the remainder to be served on probation. He was also ordered to pay $1,980 in fines and fees.
Two other guilty pleas were accepted by the Court with details as follows:
•Danny Wayne Porter pled guilty to giving false information to a law enforcement officer and driving while license suspended, and was sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation and $680 in fines and fees.
•William Joseph Biddy, Jr., pled guilty to terroristic threats and affray, and was sentenced to five years to be served on probation and $1,355 in fines and fees.
Also, 12 petitions for revocation/modification of probation were processed with details as follows:

•Jeremy Wright, who was on probation for possession of cocaine in April of 2009, was found to have violated the conditions of probation via the new charge of failure to pay. Mr. Wright was ordered to pay $400 by April 22, and failure to do so will result in the remainder of his probation being served in the county jail.
•Lisa D. Biddy, who was on probation for solicitation to distribute a controlled substance in November of 2011, was found to have violated the conditions of probation via the new charges of terroristic threats and acts and affray. Ms. Biddy was sentenced to two years to be served in the state penal system and upon completion the case shall be terminated.
•Jamie Lee Watson, who was on probation for three counts of burglary in May of 2009, was found to have violated the conditions of his probation via the new charge of burglary in Newton County. Mr. Watson was sentenced to serve the balance of his probationary period in the state penal system.
•Marvis Wyman, who was on probation for possession of drugs or weapons by an inmate and disorderly conduct in February of 2012, was found to have violated the conditions of probation via the new charges of testing positive for cocaine and THC. Mr. Wyman was sentenced to serve 90 days in the county jail and upon release be returned to regular probation and attend out-patient drug treatment.
•Marvin Stinson, who was on probation for burglary in February of 2013, was found to have violated the conditions of probation via the new charge of testing positive for cocaine use. Mr. Stinson was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail and upon release be returned to regular probation and attend out-patient drug treatment.
•Melissa M. Lisvey, who was on probation for possession of cocaine in May of 2012, was found to have violated the conditions of her probation via the new charge of failure to pay fines and fees. Ms. Lisvey was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail suspended upon entry into a probation detention center for 120-150 days, and upon release be returned to regular probation.
•Terrell E. Stinson, who was on probation for possession of cocaine and driving while licence suspended or revoked, was found to have violated the conditions of his probation via the new charges of testing positive for cocaine, failure to pay fines and fees and failure to complete community service. Mr. Stinson was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail and upon completion returned to regular probation and complete out-patient drug treatment.
•Telly Banks, who was on probation for forgery in the first degree in September of 2012, was found to have violated the conditions of his probation via the new charge of testing positive for cocaine. Mr. Banks was sentenced to 60 days in the county jail and upon completion return to regular probation.
•Mathew Bryan Jackson, who was on probation for selling meth in February of 2014, was found to have violated the conditions of his probation via the new charges of testing positive for meth and failure to report. Mr. Jackson was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail suspended upon entry into a probation detention center for 120-180 days and upon release return to regular probation and complete out-patient drug treatment.
•Kathy Irene Carte, who was on probation for battery, criminal trespass and interfering with a 911 call in May of 2013, was found to have violated her probation via the new charges of simple assault and obstruction. Ms. Carte was sentenced to 35 days in the county jail, and remain on probation while serving the time on weekends.
•William Joseph Biddy, Jr., who was on probation for possession of marijuana in February of 2014, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of failure to pay fines and fees, affray and terroristic threats. Mr. Biddy was sentenced to 60-120 days in the county jail with credit for time served, terminating the case thereafter.
A bond hearing was also held for David Tinsley, Jr., charged with three counts of sale of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and tampering with evidence, in which he was granted a $25,000 bond.
Also, the Magistrate Court convened last Friday, April 11, with Judge Kenneth G. Jackson, presiding, in which the following cases were processed:
•Rebecca Marie Moore pled guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct—sentenced to 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service and a fine of $300.
•Gary Leonard Shipman pled guilty to disorderly conduct—sentenced to 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service and a fine of $300.
•Scotty Dale Davis pled guilty to open burning violation—fined $50.
•Mark Anthony Johnson had his probation revoked to 60 days in the county jail with credit for time served and upon completion terminate the case.
•Six other individuals pled not-guilty to varying charges and were scheduled for a bench trial on April 25, 2014.
