Hunting Camp Is Burglarized
A hunting camp adjacent to a residence on Goolsby Road was burglarized sometime during January, according to information furnished by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
The report was made on April 10. Missing from the cabin were a TV, ceiling fans, bathroom sinks, bathroom toilets and a small window.
Also, on April 12 a resident on Eagle Drive in Turtle Cove reported the theft of Suzuki motorcycle.
The JCSO encourages anyone with information concerning the above, or any other criminal activity, to contact the sheriff’s office via their anonymous tips line at 706-468-JCSO. In addition, persons are encouraged to secure their belongings.
In addition, during the period of April 8-15 the JCSO reported the following arrests:
•Scottie Benard McCoy, 45, Monroe—Jasper County Superior Court failure to appear.
•Brent Lester Cooper, 48, Covington—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while license suspended or revoked and failure to maintain lane.
•Dana Sterling George, 40, Newborn—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officer.
•Jerry Lee Holland, 60, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
•Jacob Lee Holland, 28, Monticello—disorderly conduct.
•Raymond Edward Christian, 49, Monticello—parole violation, probation violation and disorderly conduct.
•Jameal Rashad Jefferies, 22, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
•Jimmie Lee Watson, 32, Monticello—probation violation.
•Allie Nichole Moore, 29, Monticello—driving while license suspended or revoked.
•Catherine L. Stevens, 55, Monticello—interfering with 911 call and battery.
•Ronnie Dale Coleman, 21, Decatur—probation violation.
•Reymond Sands, 39, Monticello—battery.
•Steven Kyle Camp, 19, Shady Dale—tail light violation, possession of alcohol by a minor and driving while license suspended or revoked.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 267 calls for service including 82 checking location, 31 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 16 subject needs officer, 11 assist motorist, 10 accident, seven alarm, five each attempt to serve warrant, pick up prisoner/subject and juvenile complaint, four each domestic, livestock on road, mechanical break down, trouble unknown, vandalism of property and road hazard, three each fight and sex offender check, two each fraud/theft by deceiving, burglary, theft by taking, four wheeler, child custody case, private property, threatening/harassing calls and argument, one each dog disturbance, suicide or attempt, speeding auto, courtesy ride, direct traffic, escort or convoy, fire/vehicle, special detail, wanted/stolen indicated, be on the look out, choking person, unconscious, dead deer on road, child abuse/molestation, rape, missing person, discharge firearms, property found and abandoned vehicle.
Also during the period mentioned above, the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
•Michael O’Neal Lyons, 47, Shady Dale—disorderly conduct/public drunkenness.
•Shirley Wise Benton, 54, Monticello—public drunkenness.
During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 124 calls for service including 45 escort or convoy, 35 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, seven checking location, five trouble unknown, four each assist motorist and music/noise complaint, three each fight, theft by taking and subject needs officer, two alarm, one each domestic, accident, intoxicated pedestrian, mechanical breakdown, bleeding, diabetic, child abuse/molestation, crowd disbursement, juvenile complaint, private property, road hazard, attempt to serve warrant and sick.
