Dimple Sanders
Dimple Mae Butler entered this world on March 9, 1932 in Putnam County, GA to the parentage of the late Thorton Butler and the late Rosa Mae Jefferson.
“Mother Dimple” was known for her outspokenness and kindness to whomever she encountered or needed words of encouragement, endearment, or prayer. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and sewing, she was famous for her collard greens and was also well known for her telephone ministry.
Mother Sanders always found a way to proclaim the goodness of God to everyone she came in contact which included debt collectors. She was frequently admired for her billion dollar smile, cheerfulness, appearance, fragrance, and especially for her beautiful collection of Sunday hats.
She joined Mt. Gilead Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend T.J. Giles and served faithfully as an usher and later in life she joined New Life Outreach Christian Center also serving as a dedicated mother on the motherboard where the late Apostle Dr. Gus Kilgore was pastor. Prior to her death Mother Sanders joined Word Alive Ministries (W.A.M.) where Marquette Brooks is the pastor and where Mother Sanders continued to serve faithfully as Head-Church mother.
At the age of 17, on March 27, 1949 Dimple met and married the love of her life, the late Emmitt Sanders, Jr. To this union five beautiful daughters were born: Inez S. Brooks, Margie Sanders, Barbara S. Copeland (deceased), Mary Sanders, and Joyce (Ricky) Kemp all of Monticello; seven grandchildren, Toy (Ian), Marcenica (Stanley), Marquette, LaSonya (Joe), Monyatto (Timothy), Jontae, and Johnavon “Tyrus”.
Also, 11 great-grandchildren: SaDarius, Maya (Tony), Morgan, Mondrez, Marquerius, Tyashia, Makya, Trinity, Johnavon “TJ”, Cameron, and September. Two Great-great grands: Zoey and Eryn Davis. Two Brother-in-laws: Albert “Tom” and Willie “Pig” Sanders and one sister-in-law, Beatrice Sanders all of Shadydale, GA. Adopted children and grandchildren: Sequoia “Pebbles”, Randy, Denzel, Phyllis, Synithia, Shanelle, Terisha, Dwanell, Dylon, Overseer Patricia Standifer (Eddie), Ellis, Cheyene, Terelle, India, Jenny, Tierra, Vanessa, Mozell, and Susie.
Also, special friends she called her girlfriends: Frances Nelson, Jessie P. Henderson, Annette Tripp, Irene Young, Octavious Hill, Mozell Lewis, Susie Gordon, Susie Thomas, and Dorothy Peters and a host of cousins and friends.
