Joe Curtis Jones
Funeral services for Joe Curtis Jones, 71, who died April 1, were held Saturday, April 5 at Rock Creek Baptist Church in Mansfield.
Pastor Roderick West officiated and Rev. J.B. Myricks, Sr. was the eulogist.
Mr. Jones was born October 20, 1942 in Atlanta to the late Pearl Lou Stevens and Willie Jones. He was the sixth of 13 children born to his parents.
He joined Rising Star Baptist Church in Atlanta at an early age and was educated at Carver Vocational High School, also in Atlanta.
On September 16, 1968 he married Carolyn A. Jones.
Nine siblings preceded him in death.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Illya Wilkerson of Douglasville; three grandchildren, Tavares, Tavente, and Iesha Wilkerson; great-grandchild, Tavares Wilkerson, Jr., all of Douglasville; sisters, Evangelist Shirely Robbins of Monticello and Pecola King of Mansfield; brother, Benjamin Jones of Covington; adopted brother, Thomas D. Smith of Mansfield; three sisters-in-law; devoted niece, Zenobia Slatter of Lithonia; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
