Cougar Tracksters Score Well

Several Piedmont Academy track team members turned in solid performances during a meet last week at Brentwood in Sandersville.

Overall, the Lady Cougars were second during the five-team event while the boys were third.

Alina Jablonski was first in the 3,200-meter run for the Piedmont girls in 13:57 and finished second in the 1,600-meter run in 6:31.

Jablonski was also runner-up in the 800-meter run in 3:04.

Payton Partenza was third in the 800-meter run (3:11) while teammate Alicia Peek was third (3:23.)

Emily Hammonds won the 400-meter dash with a tome of 1:03.62.

Bailyn Whitaker was fourth in the high jump at 4-6.

The 4×400-meter relay team of Parker Kelly, Whitaker, Bridgette Phillips and Hammonds was fourth.

For the Piedmont boys, Gaven Edge was second in the shot put with a throw of 37-4 and Barrett Whitaker was second in the high jump at 5-0.

Whitaker was also third in the long jump (17-8).

Britton Bailey won the 100-meter dash in 11.85 and was third in the triple jump (36-5). Whitaker was fourth in the 100-meter event in 12.2.

Bailey, Edge, Hunter Knox and Whitaker were second in the 4×100-meter relay in 47.5.

The Piedmont Academy track teams were scheduled to compete at Briarwood Wednesday. This was set to be the team’s final regular season meet before region, which is scheduled for April 16.
