Probationer Sentenced toThree Years Confinement
Labarron C. Farrar, who was on probation for conviction on the charges of possession of cocaine and simple battery, pled guilty to the new charge of possession of cocaine Tuesday in Superior Court with Judge James L. Cline, Jr., presiding.
Mr. Farrar was sentenced to felony confinement for a period of three years at such institution as the Commissioner of the State Department of Corrections or the Court may direct.
Other criminal cases processed by the court this past Tuesday, are as follows:

•Victoria B. Smith, who was on probation for conviction on the charge of possession of meth in February of 2011, pled guilty to the new charges of possession of meth and two counts of obstruction of an officer. Ms. Smith was sentenced to eight years with the first three years to be served in felony confinement.
•Marquis Jackson, who was on probation for conviction on the charge of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute in March of 2008, was found to have violated the terms and conditions of his probation via the new charges of failure to pay fines and fees, failure to report and failure to provide specimens for analysis.
Mr. Jackson was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail, suspended upon entry into a probation detention center for 120 days.
•Jason Matthew Ratzel pled guilty to two counts of obstruction of an officer, three counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, two counts of criminal trespass, two counts of simple battery/family violence and simple assault/family violence. Mr. Ratzel was sentenced to six years with 62 days to serve in the county jail and the remainder to be served on probation with credit for time already served, and fines and fees of $2,760.
•Billy Wayne Gafford, who was on probation for conviction on the charge of public indecency in October of 2013, was found to have violated the terms and conditions of his probation via the new charges of failure to report, failure to pay fines and fees, aggravated battery, cruelty to children, reckless conduct and battery/family violence. Mr. Gafford was sentenced to 21 days in the county jail with credit given for time already served.
•Sharon Epps pled guilty to possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and was sentenced to two years to be served on probation and a fine of $500.
•Marilyn Armstrong, who was on probation for conviction on the charge of concealing a sex offender in August of 2013, was found to have violated her probation via the new charge of possession of marijuana less than one ounce. Ms. Armstrong was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail with credit for time served since February 25, 2014.
Also, in Superior Court on February 25, with Judge E. Trenton Brown, III, presiding, Christopher Fowler, who was on probation for conviction on two counts of burglary in April of 2012, was found to have violated the terms and conditions of his probation via the new charges of interference with government property and testing positive for THC. Mr. Fowler was sentenced to two years in felony confinement.
