Cane Baseball Squads Do Well
Hurricane baseball has begun and the ’Cane squads are doing well early.
Tuesday afternoon the Varsity ’Canes defeated Baldwin Co. 12-0 in a fast paced game that was all ’Canes.
Through the first two innings, there was no score from either team. In the top of the third the Hurricane bats came alive, scoring six runs.
The batting was led by Brelan Crowe, Walt McMichael, and Lane Thomas, all with two hits apiece. Crowe also had two RBIs.
On the mound for the ’Canes was Thomas Deraney who pitched four innings and had four strikeouts.
The ’Canes came up short against Social Circle with a final score of 11-8. The ’Canes held strong and kept within one run of Social Circle through the fifth inning, but came up just short in the ninth.

Tyler Mote started on the mound for the ’Canes and had six strikeouts. Deraney came in as relief.
Leading the offense were Crowe and Aaron Newton with two hits each and Thomas added two RBIs.
The ’Canes started their season with a big win, a week ago Tuesday when they defeated Henry Co. 17-5.
The bats were hot as the ’Canes scored multiple runs in the first five innings of the game taking a strong lead by the third, 12-3.
McMichael led the batting earning three hits and five RBIs. Deraney added two hits and Mote had 3 RBIs.
On the mound, Mote and Michael Wyatt, Jr. split the innings earning six stikeouts and holding Henry to only 5 runs in seven innings.
