Bernard Franklin “Bunk” Hardy

Bernard Franklin “Bunk” Hardy, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at the Retreat Nursing Home in Monticello.

Mr. Hardy was born in Jackson to the late Azzie and Lovie Thomas Hardy. He moved to Monticello 58 years ago. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Hardy loved to fish, spend time with his grandchildren, and pass the time with friends and family. Before retirement, he worked as a supervisor for the Georgia Pacific Corporation. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

A grandson, Dustin Thompson; brother, Lamar Hardy, and sisters, Dorothy Willard and Merlene Thompson preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Williamson Hardy of Monticello; children and spouses, Donna and Mark Roberts of Carrollton, Texas, Benjy and Sandy Hardy of Brooks, Scottie and Lynn Hardy of Monticello, and Susan Kiker of Monticello; grandchildren, Bailey Roberts, Jackie Hardy, Corey and Kim Thompson, Nathan and Mary Wade, Brandy Jones and Keith Mason, and Corey Jones; and great- grandchildren, Oliver Thompson, Clark Thompson, Logan Thompson, Maddie Wade, Austin Wade, and Liam Mason.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home, with interment in Williams Payne Cemetery. Rev. Charles Roper officiated.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Williamson, Jeff Williamson, Chet Williamson, Steve Dills, Jeff Schell, and J. R. Jones.

The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to the Bernard Hardy Memorial Fund at the Bank of Monticello, P. O. Box 29, Monticello, Georgia 31064.
